I had the pleasure of having Thomas K. Flagg, President of Terpsichore Management and Entertainment and Terpsichore Quest Educational Consulting, share his knowledge and insight with one of my advanced Theater Design classes at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Mr. Flagg presented a lecture-demonstration that included a discussion about “The Business of the Business” that provided the students with a better understanding of a dancer’s professional life and various design considerations for presenting dance. He arranged to have Ms. Talin Kenar, a noted ballerina from the Hong Kong and Colorado Ballets, join us and perform a ballet demonstration. Afterward they both shared their personal experience and insights regarding the professional world of dance. The students were absolutely captivated by Mr. Flagg’s presentation.

Mr. Flagg is one of the few individuals who has such extensive knowledge of dance and the performing arts and is to be admired for his dedication and commitment. We deeply appreciated the time Mr. Flagg took to share his experience with us and look forward to having him back to visit with the students and faculty of UCSB Theater and Dance.
